CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
Summer 2010
Dan,
For 22 years we had been coming up to Hebgen Lake for the summer. For 22 years we had been dreaming of having our own place up here, instead of imposing on our friend’s hospitality or renting a place for the summer. For 22 years we had been trying to figure out how we could build the place we wanted, at a price we could afford. This summer our dream became a reality. You made that happen, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Ten years ago we purchased our LoneTree lot, but for ten years our lot sat sadly vacant as we struggled to make our vision of a dream house match the reality of our wallets. We knew that the house would have to meet our desire for light and openness and space, and the unique Yellowstone requirements of surviving winters, fires, earthquakes, and the occasional marauding bison. When we asked about West Yellowstone for a builder who would work with our desires, was familiar with the local environment, provided quality work, and was affordable, the name that kept coming up was Dan Davenport.
Building a house at long distance is never easy for the builder or the customer. Over several months of meetings in your dining room, exchanges over the internet, phone calls, and FedEx packages, we somehow made it fairly painless….at least for Pattie and me. You gently steered us away from the impractical, improved on our ideas, and turned our dreams into blueprints and a contract.
We had our doubts about building over a Yellowstone winter, but you and your crew made it happen. You hid your exasperation at my continuous requests for update photos, politely answered my phone calls from all over North America, and were very upfront with changes or delays in our plan.
Pattie and I never did get the house we had dreamed of. The house that you built us exceeded what we had dreamed of. Our house at LoneTree is, without a doubt, the tightest, straightest, toughest, quietest, best lit, best ventilated, most attractive, and most comfortable house we have ever lived in. We absolutely love it. Most astonishingly, you did not meet our budget. You came in under budget. (When was the last time anyone ever had a house come in under budget?)
We’ve already sat out on at porch in the cool dawn air, drinking coffee and watching the bison graze. We’ve entertained our guests while enjoying the view of Targhee from our dining room table. We’ve felt the cool night breeze flow through our house as we drift off to sleep. (The louvered transoms over the doors work!) It’s all we ever wished for, and more. Thanks! Great job.
